Islam is often misunderstood by Westerners as inherently patriarchal; that is to say, a male endeavor in nature. The general interpretation of Western world has by and large reduced Islamic women to being oppressed.

However the truth is quite contrary to what mainstream narratives and popular traditional interprets of Islamic texts.

History proves that there are many iconic Muslim women with exceptional stories of power, wisdom and strength. It is a fact that our historical roots are much more powerful than we realize. Muslim women have played a pivotal role in the pre-modern world. There are poets, mystics, rulers and warriors.

Muslim  women have been taking action to make the world a better place for centuries. Sadly, their notable contributions frequently go unacknowledged. 

This blog is a small tribute to Modern Muslim Women who are shattering stereotypes across the globe by being bold, creative and courageous.

Irrespective of where they are located, or what industry they belong to, they are setting a powerful example for Muslim women everywhere.

Just by being themselves, these dynamic women are defying labels and definitions.
