Sibel Siber served as the Prime Minister of Northern Cyprus in 2013. She is the first female prime minister of the country. She graduated as a physician in 1983. In 1989 she obtained a scholarship and was trained in endocrinology and diabetes from the University of Virginia. She is a Turkish Cypriot politician. Siber was the first woman to occupy this post. In 2015 she acted as the Speaker of Parliament, the Assembly of the Republic of Northern Cyprus from 2013 to 2018. As a prime minster she emphasized on solving the communal problems of the country. She also applied her candidacy to the High Election Committee and was declared the official candidate for the Republican Turkish Party CTP.
Siber wrote her first article “A critic of the healthcare system in Northern Cyprus” in 1983, which then, was published in the newspaper with the highest circulation at the time. She is fluent in English, French and Wolof.
