Mona Haydar

Mona Haydar is an American poet, rapper and activist. Her songs are about shattering the conventional boundaries regarding racism and violence against women. She is best known for the viral song “Hijabi”. It was a protest song and became a ground breaking debut with millions of views. Billboard named it as one of the 20 Best Protest Songs of 2017.

 Mona and her husband started a set up stand in Cambridge Massachusetts, where they hold a signs that read Talk to a Muslim, Free coffee & donuts, and free conversation. This campaign was an encouraging and loving dialogue that garnered the attention of media outlets like NPR, People Magazine, Al Jazeera, Boston Globe and AJ+.

In 2016 Mona was featured in a campaign by Microsoft called Spread Harmony. It featured people working towards making the world more beautiful and was covered by New York Times.

 She has been featured on brand magazines like Marie Claire and Glamour. Apart from this, she has been on BBC, CNN Buzz Feed, AJ+, NPR, PRI, and Psychology Today.
